Heaven has gained an angel. As many of you may have heard, our dear Robin Hicklin passed away on June 24th in her home by the hand of her abuser, who then committed suicide immediately after.
It has been heartbreaking thinking of what she had to go through in her life after being married to her abuser for roughly 30 years, and for it all to end this way. However, we must take a moment to realize how all of this truly is a blessing in disguise. She is free. She no longer will feel any pain or suffering, both physically and mentally. She is finally at peace after suffering for so many years.
When Robin and I were messaging each other when she was preparing to share her story with the world, I asked her to share how this experience has positively affected her life and how her life is better now after experiencing everything that she had. She told me that she had been blessed with a beautiful family with incredible grandkids that she would give the world to. She wouldn’t give them up for anything. They indeed are her diamond in the rough.
I know how much she loved her family and loved finding herself after the horrors she experienced in her marriage. I hope that we all remember her for the incredible, beautiful, free survivor that she was. She was happy! She was singing and dancing and doing everything she loved again. She was in a very good place before she left us.
I do not doubt that she will be a guardian angel for her children and grandchildren. She loved them with all her heart. She will do whatever it takes to be as close to them as she can to help them through their hardships in life as they grow up and experience each step in life.
Robin is truly an inspiration for us survivors. She is proof that even after being in an abusive relationship for as long as she did, you can and will find your light and happiness again. You must look on the bright side of life, just as she did.
My heart goes out to her friends and family during this difficult time. But I hope that they will not focus too much on the difficult parts of her life, and more on the incredible recent years that she experienced with the new light and happiness that she carried with her.
Goodbye Robin. Until we meet again. ❤️
